Emlyn Hughes
Debut – 5th November 1969 V Holland
Caps – 62
Goals – 1
If motivation and enthusiasm ever won trophies then you would most certainly have to hand over the trophies to Emlyn Hughes. Hughes was one of the greatest characters to emerge from the game; he retired from football in 1984 with an array of major honours and 62 England caps. Hughes was a brilliant defender and his competitive edge was matched by his great qualities as a leader on the pitch. His strength when tackling and his galloping runs earned him the nickname of ‘crazyhorse.’ Hughes played for England under four different managers and was installed captain of the national side in the spring of 1974, when Joe Mercer took over as caretaker manager. He is one of Liverpool’s greatest players of all time; he made 474 appearances for them in the space of 13 years playing for the club. In total with Liverpool, he won the league on 4 occasions, the FA Cup, European Cup on 2 occasions, UEFA Cup on 2 occasions, League Cup with Wolves in 1980 and he was voted footballer of the year in 1977.
Emlyn Hughes captained England on 23 occasions and played 62 times for his country.

Goals – 1
Alf Ramsey gave him a short run in the England team as a replacement for the ageing Geoff Hurst, however after only nine games Marsh’s international career was over at the age of 28. He played a vital role in several games for England in the 1970’s. Many considered Rodney Marsh as an entertainer on the field and he would often guarantee to pull in the crowds to a stadium.

Caps – 72
Goals – 10
Alan Ball was only the tender age of 21, when he walked behind Bobby Moore to contest the Jules Rimet trophy in 1966. Alan ball played his part in England’s third goal in the 66 final, Ball chased an apparently hopeless ball, playing it back for Geoff Hurst to score. Alan Ball was made of stern matter, physically and mentally. Don Revie installed Alan Ball as captain in March 1975, where England beat West Germany 2-0 and few games later, Ball captained England in their 5-0 demolition of Scotland.

Martin peters
